Day 1 of 5
Today’s task sounds almost too simple, and it is the one many people skip: get everything out of your head and onto paper. Write down 15 to 20 things you know something about or spend real time on. Do not judge them yet. That is tomorrow’s job. Today is about volume.
What do you spend evenings or weekends doing? Cooking a particular cuisine, running, houseplants, vintage cameras or board games can all count. Nothing is too ordinary.
What have you done for a living, volunteered for or trained in? You probably know more about your former industry than you realise, including the apparently boring parts.
Think about the last time someone asked, “How do I...?” and you knew the answer. Fixing a bike, understanding a mortgage, helping a picky eater or arranging a home office can reveal useful ideas.
What do you search for or read about when nobody asks you to? That repeated curiosity is stronger evidence of genuine interest than enthusiasm you are trying to manufacture.
Do not polish it. Do not research it yet. Save the list somewhere easy to find, then use tomorrow’s email to narrow it to three focused directions.
