Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Digital Affiliate Academy ("we", "us") collects when you use our website, subscribe to our emails or buy one of our products, how we use it, and the rights you have. If you are in the UK or the EU, we are the data controller for the information described below.
Who we are and how to contact us
Digital Affiliate Academy publishes reviews and educational content about online business and digital marketing, and sells its own digital products. For anything relating to your data, including any of the rights set out below, email support@digitalaffiliateacademy.com.
Information we collect
- When you subscribe: the name and email address you give us, plus the date and source of your sign-up, which we keep as our record of your consent.
- When you buy: your name, email address and order details. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- When you email us: your email address and whatever you choose to put in the message.
- Automatically: basic technical and usage data such as browser type, device, approximate location, pages viewed and how you arrived, collected through cookies and analytics.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To send marketing emails — on the basis of your consent, which you give when you sign up and can withdraw at any time.
- To deliver products you have bought and provide support — because it is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To keep records of sales — because we have a legal obligation to retain accounting records.
- To understand how the site is used and to improve it — on the basis of our legitimate interests in running and improving the site, balanced against your privacy.
Email marketing
Our email list is hosted by AWeber, which stores your details and sends messages on our behalf as our processor under our instructions. AWeber has its own privacy policy, which you can read at aweber.com/privacy.htm.
You opted in actively; we do not add people to the list because they bought something or filled in a different form. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and we act on unsubscribes promptly. Our emails sometimes contain affiliate links, and those are disclosed.
Payments
Purchases are processed by Stripe, which acts as an independent controller for payment data and has its own privacy policy. We receive confirmation of the transaction along with your name, email and order details, but not your card number.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies for three purposes: to make the site work, to understand how visitors use it through analytics, and, where we are running paid advertising, to measure whether an advert led to a visit or a purchase. Advertising and analytics cookies are set by third parties such as Google and Microsoft, who process that data under their own policies.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of personalised advertising through the relevant platform's own settings. Some parts of the site may not function as intended if you block cookies entirely.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us operate:
- AWeber — hosts our email list and sends our emails.
- Stripe — processes payments for our products.
- Our website host — stores and serves this site.
- Analytics and advertising providers such as Google and Microsoft — measure how the site is used and whether adverts led to a visit.
We may also disclose information where we are required to by law.
International transfers
Some of our providers, including AWeber and Stripe, are based in the United States, which means your information may be transferred and stored outside the UK and the EEA. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards those providers put in place, such as standard contractual clauses or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Marketing data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, plus a short period afterwards so we can honour your unsubscribe.
- Purchase records: for as long as tax and accounting law requires us to keep them, which is typically six years.
- Emails you send us: for as long as needed to deal with your query, and then a reasonable period afterwards.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EU you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete your data, where there is no overriding reason for us to keep it.
- Ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it.
- Ask us to transfer your data to another provider.
- Withdraw your consent to marketing at any time, which does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these, email support@digitalaffiliateacademy.com. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to the supervisory authority where you live.
Children
This site and our products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted here, and the "last updated" date will be revised.
